Closer is run by Better Together Technologies (“BTT,” “we”), a company incorporated in Delaware, United States. We’re the data controller for everything Closer stores about you. Contact: hello@bettertogether.technology.

Closer is built on the principle that the less we know, the less can leak. We collect only what we need to run the product.

email address

To send you a single early-access email when a slot opens, and to identify your waitlist record.

invitee emails

To send each invitee one — only one — invitation. We don’t add them to any other list.

age attestation

To prove you confirmed you’re 18+. Stored as a timestamp, not a date of birth.

queue position

Derived from your signup time and the number of invitees who join. Used to order the launch.

session cookie (in-app)

When Closer launches and you sign in via a Close hex link, we set a signed iron-session cookie so the app knows who you are. Strictly necessary.

billing receipts (in-app)

If you eventually pay, Coinbase Commerce shares the receipt with us. We keep it for tax and accounting.

server logs

Anonymised access logs (IP, user-agent, status code) for security and abuse prevention. We don’t use them to track you.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, fingerprinting, session replay, or behavioural advertising on Closer. There are no marketing cookies. We don’t share your data with advertisers because there are no advertisers.

• Performance of a contract — when you join the waitlist or pay, we process what we need to deliver that service.
• Consent — for sending the invitation email to people you list as group members. You confirm you have permission to do so.
• Legitimate interest — for keeping anonymised logs to detect abuse, fraud, or attempted minor access.
• Legal obligation — for billing records we’re required to keep.

Transactional email (waitlist confirmations, early-access invitations). United States.

Crypto payments (when in-app billing launches). United States.

Web Push (VAPID)

Browser push notifications (when in-app push launches). Routed via each browser’s own push service (Google, Apple, Mozilla).

• Waitlist records: until you ask us to delete them, or 24 months from your last interaction with Closer — whichever comes first.
• Account records (post-launch): until you delete your account.
• Billing receipts: 7 years (US federal tax retention; some jurisdictions require similar).
• Anonymised logs: 30 days.

You can ask us to:

• tell you what we hold about you (access)
• correct anything wrong (rectification)
• delete it (erasure)
• send it to you or another service in a portable form (portability)
• stop processing it (objection / restriction)
• withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior lawful processing)

Email hello@bettertogether.technology and we’ll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority — the ICO if you’re in the UK, your member-state authority if you’re in the EU, or your state attorney general if you’re in the US.

If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Texas, Virginia, or any other US state with a comprehensive consumer-privacy law, you have rights similar to those above — including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information. We don’t sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, ever. To exercise any other right, email hello@bettertogether.technology.

Passwords don’t exist on Closer — we never store one, because we never ask for one. Authentication is via the federated Close hex link (a high-entropy random string) signed into an iron-session cookie. The database is encrypted at rest by Railway. Traffic is HTTPS-only.

If we ever have a breach that affects you, we’ll email you and notify the applicable regulators within the windows the law requires — 72 hours under GDPR/UK GDPR, the timelines set by your state attorney general in the US.

Closer is not for anyone under 18. We don’t knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has signed up, email hello@bettertogether.technology and we’ll delete the record.

We’ll update this page when the product or the law changes. The last updated date at the top will move. If a change is material, we’ll email account holders before it takes effect.
